WritersOnlineClasses.com is proud to present a unique 3-month online class beginning March 1: Crafting Creative Habits with Dr. Mary O'Gara, Ph.D.:
Instructor: Mary O'Gara, Ph.D.
CLASS: Crafting Creative Habits
3-month class $60 Begins March 1, 2010
Registration ends February 28, 2010
Late registrations accepted through March 15, with instructor's permission.
Class Description: Crafting Creative Habits is a life-changing, three-month online class beginning March 1st, with weekly lessons that support you as you build the habits that sustain long-term creative success. Workshop topics range from how to get yourself to work every day to supporting your most cohesive and vital creations to learning from and moving past the inevitable creative failures and anxieties that plague even the most talented writers and artists.
Celebrated and acclaimed artists and writers make as many mistakes as the rest of us, start work with flawed beginnings like the rest of us, and occasionally fail. What they have, in addition to talent, is habits of creative work that put them back to work after a failure, after a disappointment, or on a day when they'd rather stay in bed.
No one writes about The Creative Habit better than Twyla Tharp, who developed and sustained habits of creative work through a long and honored career as a dancer and choreographer. In her book, Tharp mingles her own practices with those of friends and colleagues from the worlds of writing, music, and visual art to provide a rich buffet of ideas and exercises for all of us.
During the three-month workshop, we'll take one of Tharp's ideas each week, working with Tharp's text, her exercises and supplemental material provided by the instructor.
Mary's workshop, based on Tharp's book, is designed to help writers and artists find and develop their own creative muscles in small increments. The intention is to change lives and increase both the joy and productivity of creative work. The methods are gentle, funny, entertaining, thought-provoking and developed by masters of creative work
Julia Cameron's work nurtures and strengthens the inner artist. Tharp shows us how to put that inner artist to work and keep it working, playfully and consistently.
